Turning the wheels of industry

‘Pillar of Industry’, acrylic on board, has gone to a guy who does his bit to ‘drive’ the economy here in Germany. He’s spent his life at the wheel of his transport business here in the industrial heartland of Europe. This company then goes on to provide an essential link in other surrounding companies.

Wheels driving wheels

This painting is of a Caterpillar 992, the largest machine in his fleet at 90 tonnes. The loader has a rectangular mirror tile set into the supporting wood as the window of the drivers cabin. This machine is attached to various mechanical devices in such a way that the loader ‘drives and controls’ the surrounding cogs, shafts and tipping equipment of the painting.
When he looks into the small mirror tile, he is in the cabin as the driver of this huge machine which then drives the intermeshed surrounding machinery.
