As I was scooting round the mean back streets of Lodtunduh,
one gallery jumped out, and bit me on the leg.
Meet Nyoman Suparta,
A young but traditional kinda guy.
Nyoman sees technology as both helpful and as the great destroyer.
These guys have lived so close to the land for so long,
and our technology is still very new to their eyes. Painters have eyes.
Here they see the benefit, but are not blind to the current wave of destruction.
Quaint villages surrounded by forest and paddy fields
are being eaten by the machines.
And the machines are hungry.
He can and does paint traditional subjects,
but has dived deep into his imagination to communicate his message.
Technology versus nature
Here are two paintings of a series on technology meeting the seas.
Technology 2 seas 0.
